Description

Trametes Versicolor (Turkey Tail Mushroom) has its first known written account dating back to 200BCE. Used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and in ancient Japanese times as an immune booster.  Some studies have now shown that Turkey Tail extract contains antioxidants such quercetin. Quercetin has been shown to increase the release of immune-protective proteins while inhibiting the release of inflammatory enzymes. It is also said to contain Krestin (PSK) and Polysaccharide Peptides (PSP) which studies are indicating may help to modulate and balance the immune system and regulate inflammatory responses in the body. It is also believed that PSP may stimulate white blood cell production which may aid in combating infections. Lastly, it appears that Turkey Tail may be a good prebiotic aiding in gut health by feeding beneficial bacteria in the gut.
